Build classroom confidence with our Secondary-level course aimed at developing confidence and competence of pre-service teachers. This course can be offered to applicants pre-program as well as in program.

Module One: Managing Behaviour | This module discusses the importance of creating a positive classroom culture and how to be proactive in your approach to behaviour. Expert teachers share the underlying reasons for disruptive behaviour and how to effectively model emotion management in your classroom. |
Module Two: Adapting Teaching | This module introduces teachers to a number of ways expert teachers engage students in their learning to maximise participation. Teachers share different approaches that work for them to be responsive to all students’ needs and how they they teach self-regulation in their students. The value of peer learning is also introduced. |
Module Three: Time Management | This module focuses on the drivers of workload and how teachers can manage data effectively. It discusses the value of joining professional networks to assist new teachers with their teaching and how to maximise teaching moments when they occur. Finally, it describes ways new teachers can be flexible in their approach to make the best use of their time. |
Module Four: Working with Colleagues | This module takes a closer look at what effective feedback looks like and how new teachers need to develop trust and mutual respect with their colleagues including Teaching Assistants. It highlights the need to achieve a work-life balance and the importance of asking for help and support in a timely manner. |
Course Structure
This course uses a ‘scenario-based learning’ approach to enable you to reflect on realistic school-based scenarios, consider how you might respond, and receive real-time, tailored feedback from experienced teachers. It is designed to support your continued professional learning by facilitating your engagement with a range of situations you may encounter in your own classroom in a virtual environment.

Once enrolled, participants will be sent an activation email. This will allow them to create a TSP account and access the course through the dashboard.

Scenarios
Each module includes five scenarios where beginning teachers will view the scenario, rate the appropriateness of three possible responses and write a brief rationale for each. Next, they find out how experienced teachers rated each response and most importantly why.

Feedback reports at the end of each module show new teachers their overall alignment with experienced teachers and include resources, readings and strategies for practice.

Once participants complete the course, they will be able to download a comprehensive report as well as a certificate of completion.

Organisations can login to track participant progress, identify individuals in need of additional support and evaluate the effectiveness of the course by viewing individual and collective data.
Course resources
Hosting seminars in conjunction with the T-Insight courses is completely optional and depends on your requirements and preferences. However, guided group discussions can be a great way to encourage your students and/or staff to discuss the classroom scenarios and related educational concepts and issues in more depth. We offer resources and seminar guides that you can use to facilitate seminars following each T-Insight module that are designed to:
a) Stimulate discussion amongst participants
b) Enable participants to share multiple perspectives of teaching & learning
c) Further build participants’ teaching confidence and classroom readiness.
