Immersive professional development for beginning teachers to improve student outcomes

October 2024

The value of professional development

There is a growing demand for high-quality, flexible development courses in the education sector that are engaging and impactful.

While teachers value professional development, time constraints and workload pressures can prevent them from pursuing this. Despite online training offering a degree of flexibility, teachers reported that these methods, used during the pandemic, tended to be less engaging.

According to research by the Education Endowment Foundation, an effective professional development course should be well-designed, involve practical exercises, and be sustained over time, rather than being a one-time event.

The TSP solution

Our new T-Insight CPD courses offer professional development opportunities tailored to teachers’ needs, and are certified by the CPD Certification Service. Developed by teachers for teachers, the courses aim to build both competence and confidence by immersing beginning teachers in realistic, classroom-based scenarios. Courses develop competencies that are globally relevant to improve teacher effectiveness such as empathy, communication and adaptability.

All of our CPD courses utilise a ‘scenario-based learning’ (SBL) methodology, an immersive teaching strategy designed to strengthen teachers decision-making and judgement. Offering engaging animated content and real-time feedback from expert teachers, these courses provide a cost-effective, scalable way for schools to support teachers’ professional development.

This learning approach encourages reflection on teaching practice and teachers are provided with a wealth of learning resources to support their further learning after completion.

Which course is right for your organisation?

All of our T-Insight CPD professional development courses are ideal for beginning teachers within Primary and Secondary education. We currently cover four different topics across both stages of education, with all courses taking about 3-4 hours for participants to complete.

See below for a breakdown of each course!

Diversity and Inclusion – Primary and Secondary

These courses help beginning teachers develop highly inclusive classrooms and embed diversity and inclusion principles into their teaching.

Providing strategies for fostering an inclusive atmosphere, this course addresses cultural, social, and individual diversity while expert teachers give advice on how to handle tensions that may arise. Educators will be better prepared to meet the needs of all their students, and enhance their overall learning experience through mutual trust and respect.
