T-ITaP in Action: Building Classroom Confidence for Teacher Trainees

Teacher trainees often step into classrooms feeling underprepared for challenges such as behaviour management and inclusive teaching. In 2024, a leading UK teacher training provider partnered with Teacher Success Platform (TSP) to address this need using our T-ITaP (Intensive Training and Practice) solution.
The pilot reached 619 trainees across five cohorts. The outcomes were highly encouraging: 84% of participants agreed or strongly agreed that they felt more confident to teach after completing their course.
Key Results
- 44% increase in self-efficacy among primary trainees on the Behaviour Management course.
- 20% increase in self-efficacy among secondary trainees on the same course.
- 83% completion rate for the EDI module, which trainees praised as “very different to anything I’ve seen before” and particularly engaging.
Trainees described the experience as engaging, authentic, and easy to use:
“I found these tasks very engaging and made me enjoy learning. The format was very well laid out and helped me navigate my way round the task.”
About T-ITaP
T-ITaP offers ITT providers a scalable way to deliver intensive practice provision aligned with DfE requirements. Using animated classroom simulations, trainees experience realistic scenarios, reflect on their decision-making, and receive expert teacher feedback.
Modules include:
- Behaviour Management – relational strategies and classroom confidence.
- Adaptive Teaching – tailoring approaches to meet diverse learner needs, including SEND.
- Professional Behaviours – collaboration and reflective practice.
- Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) – embedding inclusive teaching practice.
The Impact
The pilot showed that T-ITaP can significantly improve trainee confidence and readiness for the classroom. Trainees valued the safe practice space, while programme leaders highlighted how reflective data could inform cohort discussions and tailored support.
